Join us for the adventure of a
lifetime.  Karlyn Holman and Art in
the Mountains invite you to join us
on this 20-day art adventure from
    Santiago, Chile to San Francisco,
    California.  Karlyn will provide
    instruction, demonstrations,
individual help and critiques on the
days at sea so you can enjoy your
    off-shore excursions with your
    companion(s).  No on location
    painting experience is necessary.
Karlyn will teach En Plein Air
techniques, as well as fun and free
    approaches to watercolor.  Enjoy
    travel adventures with other artists
    without hauling all kinds of
equipment. We will paint in the
comfort of the ship's dining room
and use our "off of the ship time" to
gather photos and just have fun.
Karlyn has taught more than seventy-
    five International workshops and
feels that painting and travel are
    valuable learning experiences.  With
the aid of digital cameras, iPads and
printers, we can return to our studio
on the ship and create our paintings.

Karlyn has had a studio-gallery since 1968, and enjoys a full schedule of teaching workshops and painting in her
studio.  Karlyn’s watercolors reflect a special kind of exuberance for her native area of Lake Superior and her travels
around the world.   Her paintings could be described as realism based on abstract structure.  Her teaching style is
high-spirited and humorous.  She has illustrated five children’s picture books and has written five books on
watercolor techniques: Watercolor Fun and Free; Searching for the Artist Within; Watercolor-The Spirit of
Spontaneity;  Watercolor Without Boundaries and Watercolor Making Your Mark.  Karlyn has an MA in Art from the
University of Wisconsin and has taught at the college level for ten years.  She leads International Painting trips all over
the world.  She makes her home with her husband Gary in Washburn, Wisconsin.

Karlyn is upbeat and teaches with tireless energy. Her high-spirited humorous style makes beginners feel comfortable
and challenges the advanced.  Enthusiastic and informational demonstrations, critiques and individual help are daily
fare.  Karlyn has written five instructional books on watercolor titled Watercolor Fun and Free, Searching for the Artist
Within, Watercolor-The Spirit of Spontaneity Watercolor Making Your Mark  and Watercolor Without Boundaries.

Class Outline: On days at sea, we will meet at our studio space (TBA) at 9:00 am to begin the days lessons and
projects. Each day will include 4 hours with our teacher, though the studio will remain open  from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
for your painting enjoyment. Our studio will be in one of the ships 'evening-only' restaurants.

We have chosen a great cruise allowing us to intertwine a workshop with Instructor, Karlyn Holman. You will receive
instruction, watch her  demonstrations and have lots of painting action as we take in all the sights and experiences that
come with this 20-day cruise from Santiago, Chile to San Francisco, CA. You will need a Passport.

You will start the process by registering for the workshop. After your workshop space is reserved, you may choose
your cabin by calling Sara Kloor. She will take your credit card information and help you get started with your cruise
planning. I highly recommend you create an account at ncl.com right away and start watching for those shore
excursions. I will post those that I book online and hope that some of you will join me in making amazing memories.
