"The subjects I paint are
recognizable but certainly not
painted in a photographic
manner. The design of my
"painted shapes" are more
important than painting realistic
details. Many times I paint
people. I always paint the
presence of people, even if their
image is absent in the painting.
My work has been described as
abstract but intimate.................
I hope you agree."

Judy Morris - Inspired by Judy’s
famous travel tours in Italy, this
    “Travel Tour at Home” features
painting the views, the people, and the
    textures of this romantic country.
    Using provided photo references, you
    will learn techniques for creating
    memorable travel journals and
paintings that capture the ambiance of
    this beautiful Mediterranean country,
proven ways to work with design,
    choosing color chords, tips for
    solving painting problems…and
    more!    Judy’s work has been
featured in 8 SPLASH books.  She is
    the author of Watercolor Basics:
Light and a signature member of

Class Outline
You will paint the ambiance of Italy... but you only have to travel to Bend, OR to find the perfect views, charm, colors,
and textures that will inspire your Italian paintings.  There will be informal lectures, digital presentations, demos,
discussions, and critiques to guide you on this Italian "tour at home."  Return home with Italian watercolor sketches
and paintings in your portfolio!  The following weekly schedule is flexible and is subject to change.

    LUNEDI (Monday)
We will begin the day with a short visual tour of Italy!  You will see how some of the best views have been captured in
Judy's sketch books.  Judy will share the 4-part watercolor sketching technique she uses to create her travel sketch
books.  You will sketch from images she projects for easy classroom viewing.  Judy will also discuss her thought on
paint and paper for her watercolor sketches and studio paintings.

    MARTEDI (Tuesday)
Judy will show you how to create a painting plan that insures painting success.  She will share her methods of creating
good design, choosing color chords, and painting with proven painting techniques.  Judy will share images taken on
her 12 trips to Italy during the past twenty years... or you may bring and use your own images.

    MERCOLEDI (Wednesday)
A check list for success will guide you through the painting process.  Individual critiques and helpful painting hints will
be offered through out the day.

    GIOVEDI (Thursday)
Today is a day of problem solving... let me help!

    VENERDI (Friday)
It's always hard to know when a painting is finished.  Judy has prepared a written list of "When To Stop" she will
discuss with you.  Paintings will be finished and ready for the formal critique of work completed during class in the
    afternoon.
